The Whole Earth is a collective of academics, activists, artists and designers interested in exploring the impact and legacy of scientific and technological visualisations produced during the years 1945-1972. From images of nuclear technology and space exploration, to representations of DNA, cybernetics and evolutionary biology, the post-WWII era bequeathed a vast array reproduced and ideologically-charged images, which continue to resonate across the political, cultural and academic landscape.

We organise interdisciplinary research events, public-facing talks and workshops and written and visual research outputs. See our "Gallery" and "Recordings" sections above for previous works. Our next event, devoted to the impact and legacy of the nuclear mushroom cloud will take place on the 16 and 17 July 2025. See above for the programme and to book FREE tickets.
